Window of Tolerance

The Window of Tolerance is a foundational concept in understanding how the nervous system responds to stress, trauma, and emotional intensity. When we are within our window, we are more able to think clearly, feel emotions without becoming overwhelmed, and stay present in relationships. When we move outside of it, we may experience anxiety, panic, anger, numbness, or shutdown.

In this video, you’ll learn:

  • What the Window of Tolerance is and why it matters

  • How hyperarousal (fight/flight) and hypoarousal (freeze/shutdown) show up

  • Why certain situations or relationships can quickly push us out of regulation

  • How awareness of your nervous system can support emotional safety and connection

This video is helpful for individuals and couples who want to better understand their stress responses, improve emotional regulation, and begin building a greater sense of safety within themselves and their relationships.
